Writers write.
My name is Craig Wales, and I'm a writer. That's not my job, it's not my career, it's an essential part of who I am. Throughout my life I have held many positions with the job description that included the word writer in the title. I was a journalist. I wrote a screenplay. I've been an editor. I've been a glorified data entry specialist. Over the last decade I found success and a career in advertising as a copywriter and copy supervisor. But throughout it all I have been and will continue to consider myself essentially (and simply) a writer. This site is about that journey, the path that one takes to become a professional writer. Or at least someone who gets paid to write. |
Like I assume most everyone who has ever pursued a career in writing, I started with dreams of being a novelist or screenwriter. I have yet to give up on those dreams, but I find my career, passions, and goals include other dreams of writing as well.
This site is for anyone who's ever wanted to write, and thought about the myriads of careers that could fulfill that passion. It's for those who are just getting started and trying to find the right fit. It's also for those who've been on the path for a while and know that writing affords those of us who practice it the opportunity to switch paths at any point.
